27 Mar: Friday of rest
I'm in a routine of makongveach second day an "active" day for running, riding and so on. On the other days I get house, property or vehicle maintenance work done.
So today's biggy was getting the Bullet inspected for roadworthy. As expected she flew through, but there's always nerves and doubt. On the way back I was thinking "one more year of living dangerously", by riding a bike. I'm really enjoying the Bullet, while her grip in the gravel is not so good, on the road she is faster and a real character. I am actually thinking of her being my next step towards "car-lite" living. That would open the door to selling my car and buying a sidecar for the Bullet. I've always wanted a sidecar to be enable me to carry camping stuff, tools and maybe the dog to do linger trips and getting groceries. Just like a car for one but much more fun, economical and environmentally friendly.
One thing that doesn't show on this blog is that at present the US and Israel have been running a war against Iran which was attacked on 28 Feb 26. And, well the Iranians are kicking their arises and have closed the Strait of Houmuz where much of the world's oil shipping passes. Reduced supply means, higher fuel prices of course, but for me its also a wake up call to pay attention to the fuel we rely on each day. In other areas, I use very little fuel beyonga
cooking gas. I use a few 0 a month to pump water, cut wood and run power tools, so may be transport is next. I'd love to go fully bike, but with Mia living 400k away and needing to navigate the steepest hill in the region every time i leave the house, an engine is needed. Yes, but it could be electric?
