forever boat musings

Writing this is; an act in procrastination from today's list, counter to my usual decision making which is mostly "organic", discounts the prospect that my NIS boat might be it, and a skip too far ahead. But hey its always delicious to think about possibilities.

The topic will be my choice of a larger live aboard boat. I am in the troubling position of loving being on the water and having a broad and unstructured experience of boats. 
My Love of Being on The Water: 
My love of "sailing" is really a love of being in or on the water. So, not just ocean or coastal sailing, but lakes and backwaters as well as creeks and rivers. The outcome of this is that this doesn't provide a clear direction on boat choice and alternatively steers me toward a "pocket knife" type boat. One that's not specialised towards any single discipline and one that's flexible in application eg: collapsible rig, centreboard or shoal draft, able to be manhandled by one person. 

Oddly, my NIS Boat fits these requirements. Its one short coming is that she's cramped below. But I need to get out on her for overnights more often to test out her parameters. 

Broad Boating Experience: 
I've enjoyed all types of craft: bodysurfing hand plane, boogie board, short board, long board, canoe, kayak, sailboard, dinghies, beach catamaran, trailer sailers, largish cat and keel boats. This broad experience is based on a love of water, curiosity about how boats function and my life circumstances at the time. Every types of boat had shortcomings, so the craft that's easy to get on the water has no accommodation for snoozing or making coffee. While the larger craft need a heap of time and energy to maintain as well as prepare for each sailing session. Interestingly again, my NIS Boat is one of the easiest of my large craft to rig and get afloat, but it is a pig to tow on the road.

wise words for those with friends in need

"Help us to be present for those who are hurting, even when we feel helpless." "May I be like Simon of Cyrene, walking beside those in need, sharing their burdens, and bringing them strength ." Two passages from today's mass. Simon was dragooned into helping Jesus carry the cross upon which he was crucified. The sermon asks us to be that support for others and to identify the "Simons" in our life.  The initial passage is helpful too guide me in supporting my daughter who entered a difficult period in her life some weeks ago. As a caring parent I struggled to find a way.to remove her pain, the passage suggests that being present and supportive is sufficient. Amen.  This passage probably helps to reset my family's tendency to go all in to "help" others. We'll be actively stressing our big hypertensive hearts to cook, clean and clearup. king dick in da house

When I was a kid there was a huge spanner at home and it was stamped "King Dick". It never failed to get a rise when I showed my friends. But, jist as a preamble, my dick size has never been something Ive either thought about or worried upon. I mean, what can you do about it?  Well that's what I thought until a month ago. I was drying myself off after a bath and I noticed my willy had grown! No I wasnt particularly excited, if you know what I mean. Does it continue to grow, or respond to gravity as you get older? I had one inkling that it was because I'd lost weight and was fitter. I checked again later, same. So I Googled it and yes, losing weight removes fat from the groin so more Roger is seen. And better health leads to better blood flow and Kong Dick is in da house. Bloody hell.
