no surf today

In a great cycle at the moment. I get up at 4am to clean and meditate which are often the same thing. The end result is rewarding as can be. This leads naturally onto breakfast and outside work. 
In the garden I extended a pad near the greenhouse that gives me space to enjoy the garden and beyond. Thankfully yesterday's plantings have mostly survived despite the heat, vmore heat today, and even hotter the next two days. 

Then it was off to my favorite beach. The crowd was awesome, all along the beach for three hundred metres it looked like one great beach umbrella. In fact there were dozens of gazebo sun shades and umbrellas, giving the appearance of one great Bedouin tent. There were no waves over 1 foot the entire time I was there, so I dropped my MR twinny under a tree, lashed the dog down and hit the water. Aah! So good, and I christened my Christmas boardies from Mia, and I love my French foreign legion hat. It actually allows me to spend more time in the water or even on the beach, without frying myself. Totally great. The only complaint is its hopeless for bodysurfing! 

After my swim I led the dog down but I predicted he would avoid getting wet and sure enough, he pulled back on his lead. After I gave up on him he laid on the wet sand, but of a 1 inch wash came, he would get well clear. So we people watched a while; Middle Eastern family, a young boy was quite obese but enjoyed getting around shirtless, another older fellow did too, to display some muscles, whole a younger woman whipped her long black hair about threatening to dislocate her head. Mums and dads played little games with their children, mostly cricket. Other dads, surfer types, who had high hopes of teaching the or kids to surf and sometimes the kids wailed for freedom. Others soaked up the assistance to paddle out or get onto waves. Excellent fun. 
Exhausted, we went up and laid under out tree for a while. 
After hearing a YouTube doctor explain how processed foods cause blood pressures, I was keen to get fruit, veggies and lemtils to make a fresh salad. 
The afternoon is going lazily. Might get some laundry on. Joe is late, he might he fighting fires  or sitting in  air-conditioning on his way home. 
Aah, life's good.

trip west pt 2

Its the day I leave my daughters place with some sadness & begin a solo drive 100+ kilometres south west. I'll skirt desert lands, seek off piste roads if possible & dawdle at cool places. I know that the main highways will not provide. Let's go! But first some exercise & oats.  1000: my daughter pops in for morning tea (her) & breakfast (me). While we sat talking my son called to report that he had scored a full time position with a local fire management mob. This is huge, his first independent job since finishing homeschooling some years earlier. This news buoys my mood for the day; having him at home will lessen my responsibilities feeding pets & remaining close to home. After I motored almost across the state, my daughter calls to report that her seniors have asked her to apply for several positions on Council that she might prefer.
