last Sunday.
Typically the dorm at the Albergue was flooded with human stench but amazingly I slept till 7am & am not suffering for it.
I've just found an airy sandwich & pastries bar 50m away and ate a tuna salad roll that was crispy good. There was a police operation just outside, not sure what but high security, no rush.
Today's goal will be to spread my wings a little without getting lost and being safe while I do this. I would love a museum or gallery to while away time and soak in some culture. I just need to avoid any seedy looking places, of which there area many. There is a Metro station nearby(ANTON MAETIN), if I was game i could give that a go but the ticketing ?? Online, I know the airport is NE from here by 14k, walkable, at least part of the way. I do need to confirm the Terminal number, probably T4 again, but no guarantees until I confirm my flight booking tomorrow.
10:30; have begun stretching my legs and getting my bearings. Fortunately I found a lovely church not far away and came to prefer open streets, low level high rise. The sunshine repels street urchins and troublemakers. Police presence around here is pretty high. I've returned to the rooms to toilet & research the walling route to the airport.
13:40 - Wrote out directions before going out for a stroll. I picked up a spinach & cheese pastie & choccy muesli bar. Walled N to find an opening plaza with food shops, sidewalk eating etc. A little over I found a bus terminal with a regular airport service. So I'll be walking 1.5k & then catching a bus hopefully to T4. On the way back I got Maccas sindai, ice cream!
Now, may be a rest & blob out! I realise where the traffic jamb was last night, police road block & sirens all day today are pretty much all the same street. The one i take from here to Atocha bustop.
Y preferred church, San Sebastian Paroquial has an 8pm mass, probably too late. The nearer one has a 6.30 service. I'll see how o go here.
17:22. Showered with soap, a fruity little bar of hygiene soap. This Alb. doesn't have laundry machines, not seen men's clothing shops either. I'd like to buy some shorts for the trip home.
