28 Sep: Torres del Rio to Navarrette (32.5k)

After a rocky rather than rough night's sleep, I bailed @0600 & rocked The Way - for so.e reason I love this time of day on pilgrimage
The particular section of camino,to the next village is known as the "Knee Killer". Certainly it whoop de dooed down & up lots of times but jogging off some hills filled me with joy.

In todays Village 1 I managed hot bread & hamon which course was fantastic. I tried to play sword fights with an old eye, he just raised his stick a little. The spot I ate was directly across from a carving depicting God tromping on brats.
I got disoriented leaving tow  & an 80yr old took it as his duty to stop his car, get out on the ride & provide a thorough set of directions before clambering in, starting up and pootling away. Brilliant.
Village Two Logrono was big &  came at 22k. This was more a city & the church celebration drew 500 people with music & singing. Everyone was well dressed.  I ate b grade tomatoes, cucumber, the last of the cheese by a pond in a park. Afterwards I tried to snooze but the flies said No Way Hose.
lunch in logrono
Well presented logrono
The colours of the day, orange-brown field stubble, an arcade of pines. My walking speed I was able to keep up, but if I stopped, my right thigh burned. I needed Tiger Balm to start the motor. I met an Irishman, call him Corky, he was striglling due to blisters, but he needed TB because was walking  to favour his feet & causing strains elsewhere.
I met up with Barbers (Glaswegian, worked all over the world, currently in London) & we had one of those pilgrim conversations; she about stepfathers beatings. She mused over the benefits of being able to talk to the offender as an adult. My view was, even using I Statements, he will jack up, refuse to acknowledge anything & somehow put it on her, "More of the same". She agreed. I told her about confronting Br Pstrick: using tact didn't work, he just stonewalled, so I went hard & direct". She was very appreciative anyway.

The walk onto Navarette was pretty, but it was way too long. Each time i stopped my R quad would ache & stiffen causing me to hobble madly, so fresh apps of Tiger Balm were needed. Up over yet another long hill, my R shoulder was protesting as was R thigh, I was pretty well shot.
But the capacity to pull a 30k day, & my confidence to knock out 20-25k days, back to backdf This is getting serious.
