frugality is good

Peter said, “May your silver perish with you, because you thought you could obtain the gift of God with money! You have no part or portion in this matter, for your heart is not right before God. Therefore repent of this wickedness of yours, and pray the Lord that, if possible, the intention of your heart may be forgiven you.” – Acts 8:19-22)

Pilgrims Progress discusses something to the forefront of my mind, that of people of wealth believing themselves to be morally superior to others. Yet here is example of how  bible teachings instruct the well minded Christian to shun material wealth as a fool's errand. Further perhaps that the worship of money is a falling away from the way.

It is true that I have followed Voluntary Frugality for almost forty years. But I am no more worthy than the next man, I just face fewer distractions.

As an additional element in opposition to a high consumption lifestyle, is its impact on the environment. Clearly a frugal life is one that demonstrates greater respect and care of God's gifts in nature.
