got boat

Goolwa is an amazing place; birds, waterway & proximity to the southern ocean . despite all the real estate spit and pollish, beyond the village nature's raw energy prevails.
The boat, was not as polished as had been promised. Certainly she's well designed & put together,  but she has been neglected in recent times, the finish is tarnished despite the covers, the paintwork is grimy & the trailer displays corrosion. But I'm happy the nuts & bolts are there, & she's very robust looking spacious below.
On the trip back to Central West NSW we blew out a wheel bearing & another growler was replaced, despite adding fresh grease before leaving.
I had a chance to scrub the topsides today & can't wait to get home & scrub out below, the cockpit, lockers & decks. From there timber scraping & oiling, checking the rigging & so on.Unfortunately the trailers interstate transfer will need a full mechanical inspection. That could present problems so I'll need to recondition that too.
Then I'll be looking at going for a sail.
New bearings at River Bend Caravan Park.
DAY 9: ARRIVING HOME
overnighted with daughter in the Central West. Grand to stretch out on a soft bed & sleep, catch up with Mia & dog Sam especially. Bit I was up before the dawn & after a brief  settling in period we were gunning along.
Unfortunately I was t paying proper attention to engine loading & the little oiler struggled when I got it wrong. Eventually I realised & we got along better. After a stop at Tomingley for coffee & oil, I pulled in a Dunedoo. There only long enough to check the ties & tyres & stretch a bit.
We then ran about 200k into Merriwa where I stopped for a brew and a poo. Sorry but it rhymes.
It was then off to Singleton, where I got a small box of groceries for home. I regretted taking the winding, hilly & bumpy backroad via Glendonbrook because it slowed is down & shook is up. How tiring!

This photo was at Goolwa, but she has her full denim jacket on.

The final jald kilometre was Suby's hardest, back to first & grinding it out was tough. The car was fully loaded with SELKIE, tools, boat spares etc, buy I may have to use the Land Rover for this in future (tow it down & up the hill shuttling with Suby).
We arrived short before a wet afternoon, so after a smack & snooze I put SELKIE'S full canvas jacket on.
Now I can relax! Well a bit anyway.
