inspired cycle travel

My spanking new Brompton C Line us becoming a great joy for me. Yes, it was very expensive, but as an older guy living frugally I see this bike as am investment in this lifestyle choice. I can lash it to my motorbike, lump it into a car, bus, train or plane or just roll out the door & ride. While a complex engineering feat, the Brompton is really about simplicity. Unlike my carbon fibre  fatbike hanging on my shed & stares down intimidating me, the Brompton is like a terrier, right by your side, fun & ready to please.
Underway, while she can turn on pace, she's very happy poking about. Rather than blasting through like a tornado she's happier negotiating side trails, or pathways. She loves ,an easier pace where more detail is evident. And other people find her less intimidating & are more acceptong, more willing to identify with her rider.

My Brompton Love has been fed mostly by Joanna Thornton's utoob channel. A mere slip of a woman with a lions appetite for life; having cycled Hong Kong to London, lives with cancer & pushes through to undertake regular cycling tours of note. But, perhaps her other great inspiration is her style of travel; be positive, ro persevere & to make do. She embodies the opposite of macho swagger & is very endearing. So today, although I've owned a Trangia stove for over 20 years, I finally lashed out to buy a "Trangia 27 Small" cook set. I'm impressed each time i see Jo tucked away in a green siding, chopping & frying veggies before pouring a  steaming kettle of water over coffee grounds, then sitting, hands wrapped around a small mug of Joe.
Simple pleasures, but also taking control over your travel budget, diet & satiation of your taste buds. I realised yesterday as I sat at Maccas, totally uninspired by the menu & my dining companions that for the same money, plus a capful of metho & a scoop of coffee beans, I could enjoy a real steak & coffee how I like, in the outdoors. Why I chose to leave the beautiful ambiance of the Macquarie River, alone, to slot myself I'm a cubicle by a roaring main road with wafts from passing cattle carriers, I don't know. But it was a good lesson; if you want to enjpy a rare feed of meat & a coffee in peaceful surroundings, there's an easy DIY solution.
