things as they fall

About a week ago I was entertaining the prospect of having free rein to renovate "my" miners cottage. But one email from Council put paid to that project.
So tomorrow, when I hit the central west for the seventh time in recent months, I'll have nothing big doing for six weeks. Just some riding, cycling, flyfishing & chores.
Also last week, we'd been plodding along tidying up  my parents' home thinking it would go on the market sometime in the future. Well the future just smacked us in the face, & arrangements are underway to have it listed for sale.
I have been toying with getting a larger motorbike. A big  Honda Fury chopper or a Harley Softail or older Road King. There are very few of the Honda's about, but Road Kings are prevalent, especially on the Golden Highway. I really like their squat stance, heavy rumble, load carrying comfort & capacity to knock out massive mileages. After an evening footy match last Sunday, my son Joe & I got talking with a 2007 Softail Custom owner. Seriously Harley, he raved about the love of his life, saying that she never left his side. But, several times he described having serious problems that stopped her running for a while & cost thousands to repair. From the discussion I took that the post 2004 models with loads more electronics, were costly to repair. My hope is that buying a pre-2000 model would be more affordable.
The local team stole a place in the final eight, with final series starting tomorrow.
I bought a really nice 4' Howard Nugget slasher. I got it home this afternoon & Joe will no doubt trial it very soon.
Joe continues to be frustrated in securing work as a firefighter.
