a poignant reading

Being at a major "life transition" I am searching with nerve endings set on hypersensitive mode for footholds, anything secure.
One of last Sunday's readings hit the spot.
"I want to urge you in the name of the Lord, not to go on living the aimless sort of life that pagans live. Now that is hardly the way you have learnt from Christ ...You must give up your old way of life, you must put aside your old self, which gets corrupted by following illusory desires. Your mind must be renewed by a spiritual revolution so that you can put on the new self that has been created in God's way, in the goodness and holiness of the truth."
                           Ephesians 4.17

I guess it spoke to me as by going out west I am turning my back on the Real Estate Competition along the eastern seaboard. Further, that my ideal for restoring the miners cottage is to recreate a small, simple space. Removing the wrap around verandah structure back to just four rooms, and foregoing the power grid choosing to reopen the supply of water and discharge of sewer.
I am doing this for several reasons; simplifying my life by honing down to necessary tasks, compassion for the planet & our indigenous & low income brethren. Its a vision I have long held, but one that had not been agreeable to my ex-wife. To impose these things on my children would have been unfair.
But now, I am free to follow my goals.
