right wing political issues tantrum

"The Liberals* are led by Peter Dutton, a former police officer from Queensland, Australia's most conservative state. Dutton is also the leader of the so-called National Right – the Liberals' most conservative hard-right faction". (*Liberal in name only, politically conservative.)
                    Ref: The Loop.
Extreme rightwing politician,  Leader of Australia's National Right, ex Queensland police officer.
Relevant historical context of the Qld police force. Some years ago "a series of media investigations exposed police corruption in Queensland. The intensity of media interest grew, culminating in ABC's Four Corners broadcasting The Moonlight State in May 1987, an expose on police officers accepting bribes to ignore crimes such as illegal gambling and prostitution. The Fitzgerald Inquiry not only proved that the reported corruption existed, it proved that corruption was systemic and high-level".
For many years, that police force "enjoyed" the lowest confidence rating of all Austrslian states.
Dutton was also the political lovechild of John Howard, one of Australia's longest serving right wing primeministers. Howard's achievememts, much touted by Dutton is the Pacific Solution. This was s push by the right to "get tough" on refugees (is: people seeking refuge frlm personal and political persecution). Getting tough translated to a campaign of vitriol against refugees as terrorists and criminals. Howard's political nadir was to call out refugees for "throwing children overboard". On the very eve of an election Howard raged against evil refugees for throwing their children into the sea in order to be rescued by Border Force (an aggressive, politicallyamipulated marine police force). This claim prpvedcto be a lie to scare voters into electing the party going hard against a "known" alien class of people. Months later the lie was exposed but the party was never disciplined, the election never voided and the evildoers, the politicians scoffed at any suggestion of honesty or eve morality in politics.
Fast forward and Howard's lovechild, the Right Wing Dutton, groomed on the corrupt cultures of Queensland Police and the (non) Liberal Party, is a struggling leader in  opposition. This week, struggling for legitimacy, drags out the old migration chestnuts; migrants and nuclear power generation.
Having benefitted from the White Australia Policy and investment (housing infrastructure, finance and military) from white nations (ie: UK, America), Dutton rails against coloured investors from South East Asia. Struggling for relevamce, and wanting to further agitate racism and division locally. he offers nuclear generation as a "solution" to Australia's apparent power generation problems. Despite many independent research studies finding no financial or ecological benefit in this course of action, Dutton stirs the possum. Relevance through an issues tantrum, the great right wing tradition.
