Weekly Report 15Feb23

A random photo of a Yamaha Tenere 600 adventure bike stopped for a lunch break in my local park. The older guy rider seemed to be mid flight on a decent tour. Good luck to him.

Despite more wet weather this week has been another good one for progressIon on the boat and  my health.
New arrivals are boarding ladder mach 1 and Hebridean Wind Vane kir. The ladder I ordered had the wrong feet and i was modifing it but remained concerned about its strength in the new format. Finally I bit the bullet and ordered the right one. It just happens to be the same one as Pickled Herring, it mounts on the side deck & stored vertically against the lifelines. I feel its important to get this right as over the years I've heard of regular drownings as old sailors fall while transferring to or from their tenders. I'd rather go more intelligently.
My Hebridean windvane arrived from Scotland this week too. Its a puzzle of bits at present, these include two manuals   I bought some Spotted Gum (hardwood) but in 19mm thickness, not the 20mm specified in the drawings. I do hope that's okay.
So I've been building the Trunk and Vane Base and reading the Plans quite a few times only provides vague guidance. There's nothing for it but to just sneak up and dip your toe on the water. Once you progress the smallest bit, the next stage emerges. But, i must say I do enjoy boat building; nothing is square and it's a bit arty and ultimately very satisfying.

Also. to my electrical system on the Jack Spratt I have bought some junction boxes that allow multiple wires to be connected very simply. These devices are also easy to maintain, and hopefully by sealing them in lunch boxes they'll be watertight.
    "Shit just got real".
                    The Wilderpeople

On the home front my daughter is making progress on her mamoth move out west with her park ranger boyfriend Daniel. This involves selling a horse, moving two more horses to paddocks (yet to be secured). getting into work, winding up her current work (for others and her own business), possibly buying a new truck as well as managing the long distance  relationdhip.  And she's getting it done. Phew!
On the other hand my son keeps assuring me he will be OK paying bills wgen i move aboard. He comes, he goes, all very secret squirrel and I have no clue what he gets up to. He's a good lad though and I suspect he's doing a work from home thing on his computer. Its a bit cat and mouse and Im realising hes getting a laugh out of it.
Also this week I've been surfing, doing daily yoga and  disciplined wiyj my diet. Early morning mediation and a good few minutes watching Back Waters and Back Roads puts me into a good headspace.

Good luck chasing your own dreams
