New GT5 Trike

Well,  GT5 arrived at 01.15 yesterday & was collected from the trucking depot in Cardiff later that day.  I had a team of 60-something depot people dotting about looking for a bike in a box.  They found it pretty quick considering that a Depot Collect is rarely allowed.

My stress or excitement level eased,  knowing I had GT5 in my possession. Just as a chuckle,  as we loaded it it began to rain.  There'd been heavy cloud building all afternoon & really anything was possible,  even flooding which was gripping towns out west. In the end we had fifteen drops on the windscreen & I was able to visit my mum & tidy her yard as well.  This would free up tomorrow to assemble or ride (?) my blue trike.

Despite having had a full day,  I set up to begin assembly as soon add I could.  Bubble wrap was sliced open to reveal a beautiful frame,  near new chain rings,  nothing showing signs of corrosion (except one bit I couldn't yet see).

The tyres had been deflated.  I knew people did this when air freighting, but I thought 8 days from the west was enough to truck. Who knows? Two out of three inflated,  the other had a lose valve.  The folded frame wouldn't lock in, but I worked around any issues & made a list to complete in the morning.  I hit the sack at midnight & shared my bed with a new mum & four black kittens.  She was so proud I didn't have the heart to boot them off.

Up at the crack,  I quickly addressed my list of issues finding the quick lock cam on the folding frame ceased.  So she'd been sitting unused for a while.  I ended up with that valve needing reseating & a frayed gear cable at the rear.  The only thing frustrating me was that I could look but not sit. I just wanted to so bad.

New owners in the LBS seemed nice & their prices were great,  new cable core & even a new spare tube for $16 lefty me cheering.  Hunter Valley Cycles, I like.

At the auto shop I picked up a valve care kit with yet another vale tool, spare valves and patches, & shot home.

In quick time the tail end issues were sorted & I got to sit & grin like an idiot while dodging furniture in the kitchen, lounge room areas. kitchen. My son who just turned 20 had a bemused look, I couldn't tell; curiosity about the trike, or pity for his father.

Vrroom, vrrooom without fossil fuels.

It's work again today,  & I'm unsure about gear selection settings,  but tomorrow? Yep, it's on.

Reading CGOAB "World Jamboree on Trikes". Two twenty- something Rover Scouts trike from here across Australia,  cycle up through Africa,  into Asia & northern Europe to attend aworld gathering of scouts in Sweden.  Rising GT3s which I think is the earlier version of GT5.
