Second Gear

For some time The Camino had been simmering on my back burner.  I have read a few books & casually perused Brierly's guide to the Camino Santiago de Compostella, but nothing had solidified.  As always,  when a mental seed is planted,  or sits quietly below the surface taking root.  Without nourishment, that seed may rot & perish.  This seed seems to be taking root.

For the past two weeks I've been listening to "The Camino" podcast, inspired.  Yesterday I went to buy a Kindle book & realised I had already bought it.  I rarely spend more than about $6 so it's not unusual that I might have a three dollar book on a topic I enjoy reading about. I splurged & bought the audible add on for $3, read by the Scottish author,  a middle-aged empty nest teacher.

I'm not doting on every word,  just soaking up the vibe.  In days to come I will listen again & again & come to recall each passage before hearing it.

I suspect that being stood down from my 2 days a week caring-for-my-mother position, & having my son wanting to take on my business,  has freed my mind for such things as fleeing for a month or more.  Not that I could afford such an adventure,  but I'm just feeding the interest in case I have a financial windfall.

I want to keep motivated,  keep the dream alive as they say.  When mum passes,  my son gets his licence & have a few thousand dollars in my pocket,  I'll go.
