day 15: sun 5/10 @ probiacion de campos

29k today, mostly with no food intake!

The Way from CASTROGERIZ went up dramatically in height in the predawn. Looking E around to N revealed possibly 100 wind generators flashing red or white. In the clear atmosphere this looked spectacular.
Amazingly, over said hill the Way dropped off at possibly the limit of safe walking. The surface was roughened concrete, small mercies?
A slight rise off the valley floor led to a food van; €4 ccl & croissant.
looking back towards Castro.

Down into a level valley, river, on the left was what looked like an old church. The door was open & the smell of coffee drew me & a passing British couple. An old guy, spoke in the candlelight, I could see, hr offered coffee, so o said gracias. Nips of black coffee & dry biscuits by candlelight, 100% sensible. I was so disorie ted/overwhelmed that I left my Credential. Fortunately Brit Man called after me.
Over a wide river, sandstone bridge, right onto Lucerne growing paddocks. The smell was quite affecting of home.
the poplars continued to join Lucerne paddocks

The trail went long undulating and going along. I was .missing a supermercado, two villages offered nothong. A canal on the right, mmm dreaming.
THE NRL GRAND FINAL ON THE RADIO.  I checked in late, just before 1/2 time with Storm ahead. Broncos got one before the break. In the end Reece Walsh won the Churchill Medal award scoring tries, setting up tries, saving tries & otherwise steering the team with #7 Adam Reynolds (C) & #6 Ben Hunt going off injured. I predicted this after seeing his do the same vs. Knights a few weeks ago. I was happy to hear than win, & marvelled at the capacity to listen live on The Way.

Eventually the canal came to a spillway, before it was a ferry & tourists smelling lovely.
Right turn into FROMISTA. At mid20s distance, I was able to stock up & eat. By a church, sardine cucumber tomato cheese triangle baguette, digestives for dessert.
I was a little confused whether this was FROMISTA (it was), but walked another 3 to 5k to this little village. I studiously walked by the albergue, a small foot bathing fuente, & walking around & up town before returning. €10, alb de peregrinos.
