7/10: calzadilla de la cueza to el burge raniero 39.7k (I'm calling it 40k due to backtracking etc in Sayagun)

good to clear out of albergue, top dollar, but out of poo paper & no working kichen.

The morning's walk was way cool with the moon setting ahead to the left, the sun rising behind right, and the whole sky shades of violet, apricot, then hot orange.

For the first time since beginning I can smell  wheat chaff. There were more birds about too, wrens & sparrows & blackbirds and I wondered if they were following the drift of wheat harvesting & chaff baling across the nation.

Great before SAHAGUN to pass a gateway sculpture marking a little over halfway along the Camino. I tried not to celebrate, there's a long way to go.

S for lunch. The walk out from here was shaded by a one sided  arcade of trees - very pleasant. At BRECIANO REAL DEL CAMINO I found the claim hollow as the Albo was "completo". The other private / expensive was completo too.

At 1730 I left to walk  9 k to here. Google maps had me spiralling about before finding a lovely Albergue (with hospitalero couple from Cairns - Helen & Marty), with one bed left!

After a rough day, a big releif.

HALFWAY plus a bit more.
