doubts about food & coffee in Spain
News from the Camino on Spain from my sisters is not great on two counts. Typically for my family, it involves coffee and food.
Ive heard that Australian coffee standards are high internationally speaking. I've read so many times of tired Pilgrims guzzling life affirming coffee on the Camino, their cry being "cafe con leche". So I was shocked to learn, from my sisters, that the quality of Spanish coffee, is "dreadful". Its even suggested that I bring my own. It sounds horrible! Coffee is next to blood and water as the most life-affirming liquids in my humble lifestyle.
If that news is not bad enough, today I also learned that the food variety is severely limited to fried meats. Its true that I am heavily reliant on lighter fair for my well being. Being force fed fried meats not only sounds horrid, I know my health and vitality will suffer. I am proud to limit my at-home diet to oats and nuts on the morning and sardines with salad or stirfry for dinner. I limit fried foods to once a week, or less often and know that my stomach will protest and my energy level will dip.
Hoping the supermicados come through?
