july 15. ness boat freshen up


15 July: Oughtred Ness boat "Ilona"
All this while I've been hunting about for a pocket cruiser, my Ness Boat has been sat.

I bought Ilona just before Christmas and sailed her quite a bit, but she no longer fits my goal to sail offshore, so she must go. Besides sailing fast, she is quite tender and very wet. Pumping out while hard on the wind, you run out of arms and legs. 

Anyway today I got serious with refitting to prepare her for sale.   I sanded gun'als ready to paint. At the hardware store there was green paint on sale for $15. On the boat the colour match was perfect.

It was getting late so I had just time to touch up areas where sanding had taken off the top coat. Tomorrow, weather willing, I'll tape up and hit it. My soon to be sea boat Clancy 
 has a beautiful finish with a coat of clear applied over her hull. Her lustre and finish is magnificent. This tempting to do on Ilona. 

16 July: Painting Green Bits
I lightly sanded the bilges and blew them out. Using a cutting in pad ensured a thick even coat. 
The results were only pretty good. Coverage is fine, but with the cold weather there are "brush stroke" marks. I don't think a clear coat will hide them, but I will test this idea out. So maybe 8/10 marks. 

Having one and a half cataracts is really cramping my style. Fine weather tomorrow, so we might see some cream paint flowing.

a skin thing?

As a surfer from my childhood years I escalated to surfing most days. If i wasn't surfing I was just going on or out of the surf, or at school or in latter yesrs work. Some school days would see me run home from the beach dripping wet, stuff cereal down & jog to school. At lunch break I would grab a bike & get a surf in.  On my twenties i took up sailing. If I wasn't actually sailing I would be working on my boat getting things ready. On the day a gunman nicked ex president Trump's ear the world politcians decried violence as evil, undemocratic & so on, more than 39 people were killed in Palestine. These events highlight mass hypocrisy across the world with regards violence & race.  No one in the media industry will ever mention this hypocrisy.
