moving on
Im the last two qeeks I paid top dollar for an Oughtred with a cabin, drove halfway across Australia to pick it up, and later learned it had an aluminium keel & lose ballast ingots stowed in the cabin, I cancelled the sail, then returned the boat.
The ageny hadn't seen the boat in years and was disappointed in its condition (he later said), and suggested the seller compensate me for my travel expenses, somewhere approaching $2000, plus my time and effort to replace wheel bearings etc. But the seller, a psychiatrist in private practice didn't see it that way. An expensive lession indeed.
Meanwhile, my daughter, who moved out west to live with her boyfriend, housed her horses & secured employment etcetera, has moved out due to this guy turning out to be in need of a free cleaner. She is tossing up whether to stay & move into a new position she has just won, or return home to the coast. She remains out west, loving in a large horse float, with her dogs and is sorting out her systems while she deliberates. She holds dear, a dream to buy a property, & the central west is as far as she needs to go to get a start. So we'll see how that infolds.
My son, offered a job & promise of a mail package to confirm the offer, is into his third week with no confirmation.
My newfound re-realisation that if you want a good boat, make modify it yourself, has led me back to my half cabin 15' clinker. Just now I have parked it up by the house with intentions of decking of over and shipping a balanced lug rig similar to Sven Yrvind's capable little boats.
This is Exlex, his latest build has three carbon fibre masts.
